The Kava extract within Essence of Kava® differs substantially from other lower-cost Kava extract products which often are prepared from shavings, peelings, and stems of the kava plant. It is very important to have the full complement of chemical constituents in the Kava extract that naturally occur in the Kava rootstalk. You can be assured that Essence of Kava® contains a full complement of these componds which are extracted from high-quality 7 year-old Kava rootstalk from Vanuatu, Melanesia.
Each preparation of Essence of Kava® is analyzed by HPLC, with only a variation of 1 to 2% in the kavalactone content seen between each production run.

The figure shown is an HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) trace of the rootstalk from which the KAVIAR® in Essence of Kava® is prepared. The peaks shown with a retention time between 15.75 minutes and 17.75 minutes (the flavokavain C group) have not been previously identified in Kava.
