A two-year old Hawaiian Kava plant reaching towards the light.  Note the spotted colorations on the stem, a variety that is quite potent. The young Hawaiian Kava plants are transplanted into pots before they are placed into the field. A bed of young Kava plants (about 6 months old) that were generated from cuttings of other older plants. A changing angle in the sunlight affords a different impression of the Kava leaf.

 

 The leaves of the Kava plant can grow quite large to about 12 inches across.
